CAPABILITY MATRIX

Clear boundaries for tooling, equipment, and machinery requests.

Minimal purchasing works only when the limits are visible. Star Micronics publishes capability bands so buyers know which requests can move directly to quote review and which need engineering confirmation first. The matrix covers product families, documentation options, lead-time behavior, drawing formats, and inspection expectations. It is written for practical use: a buyer should be able to compare a tooling basket, machine accessory, or support-equipment request without guessing whether the needed evidence can travel with the order.

The matrix is not meant to replace engineering review. It prevents the wrong requests from pretending to be complete. If the input gives enough information to confirm fit and commercial scope, we route it to quote. If a missing fact could change the item, document path, or receiving plan, we return a focused clarification list. This saves time because the buyer sees exactly which decision is blocking the request.

DOCUMENTS

Evidence options tied to line items.

Available document paths include certificate of conformance, material certificate where applicable, calibration record, first-article evidence, packing list detail, and controlled revision note. The required level is attached to each item rather than assumed for the whole order. This avoids over-documenting common consumables while protecting items that support regulated production.

INPUTS

Files we can work from.

Send PDF drawings, STEP files, spreadsheet bills of material, old purchase orders, supplier part numbers, tool crib exports, maintenance spare lists, or photos of existing tooling labels. If the file is informal, we can still turn it into a structured request and highlight what must be confirmed before quote release.

USE THE MATRIX

Send your list and we will mark the quote route.

We can return a concise review showing which lines are ready, which need technical confirmation, and which documents should be attached before purchase approval.
